Rod Ryan Show Welcomes ‘Mo’ Lunsford
• Houston radio pro Monica “Mo” Lunsford, former co-host of the now defunct Morning Bullpen on Audacy Country KILT-FM (100.3 The Bull), has resurfaced across the street as the new co-host of The Rod Ryan Show at iHeartMedia Rock/Alt KTBZ (94-5 The Buzz), now comfortably ensconced alongside host Rod Ryan, Alex Middleton, and Jose “The Chile” Santos. The position became available in December when former co-host Tessa Barrera left for KPRC-TV (Click2) to host Houston Life in the afternoon.
Elliott Wood, PD of The Buzz, KZPS & KEGL, tells RAMP, “Mo is a well-known Houston talent for 10 years while she co-hosted AMD across the street with George Lindsey on the Bull. We recognized Mo’s talent early on and how she transcends formats as well as the incredible market equity she has. We spoke to a lot of talent during the co-host search and Mo stood out and connected immediately with the Rod, Alex, and Chile.”
With Day One now in the books, Wood notes, “The positive feedback and engagement from our social media on Monday, Mo’s first day on-air with us — was all positive from both our Buzz / Rod Ryan listeners as well as Mo’s fans who found her here on the 94-5 The Buzz. I know she will bring much to iHeartMedia as part of the No. 1 radio show in Houston, and we are all very excited for this next chapter in The Rod Ryan Show.”
Interestingly, Lunsford’s new gig just happened to launch on the same day that her former Bullpen co-host Erik Scott Smith made his San Antonio morning debut with Jenny Lee on Cox Media Group Country KCYY (Y100).
