Sadlemyer Closing Out 49 Years At KFAB

• iHeartMedia Omaha announced that Gary Sadlemyer, longtime morning host on NewsRadio 1110 KFAB is retiring from full-time radio, effective Friday, Dec. 12. A 2011 inductee into the Nebraska Broadcasting Association’s Hall of Fame, Sadlemyer started his career at KFAB in December 1976.

In his half-century of service with the station, Sadlemyer has anchored KFAB’s Morning News for more than three decades, hosted the first live, daily talk show in KFAB’s 100-year history, and served several years as Program Director. Sadlemyer’s voice is also beloved by a generation of Husker fans from his time on the Nebraska football broadcasts from 1980-1995.

“Time sure flies when you’re havin’ fun,” said Sadlemyer. “Since I was a kid growing up in Minnesota, I had a passion for radio. It’s just like anything else… kids who dream about being a doctor or whatever; mine was radio.”

Looking ahead, Sadlemyer’s on-air partners for the past quarter-century, Jim Rose and Lucy Chapman, will remain as part of the KFAB morning show, and will be joined by KFAB PD/mid-morning talk host Scott Voorhees and morning news anchor Craig Evans. “I’m excited to join the morning team to continue to make KFAB Omaha’s well-informed, trusted friend with whom you laugh, cry, and get through the day together,” said Voorhees. “These are the ideals that Gary embodies better than anyone.”

While he’s retiring from his full-time role, KFAB listeners will still hear plenty of Gary Sadlemyer on the station as he will continue to provide personalized content for advertisers, and will also occasionally pop in to hang out or be a fill-in host on the morning show.
