Sports Hub’s Wicked Awesome Decade
• Beasley Media Group Sports-Talk WBZ-FM (98.5 The Sports Hub)/Boston is celebrating its upcoming 10th anniversary with a daylong celebration of memorable Boston sports moments and events during a ten-hour commercial-free broadcast on Tuesday, August 13. The special programming will kick off at 7am with Toucher and Rich and wrap up at 5pm with Felger & Mazz. Along the way, the station will highlight amazing sporting events, including the victories (and agony) that the city has experienced, as well as special moments that have taken place on the air over the past decade.
The Sports Hub was the first FM sports signal in Boston and has changed the way that sports are talked about. It continues to provide Boston fans with the very best coverage, information and entertainment involving the city’s beloved teams.
“It’s an honor to work with the incredibly talented staff, on and off the air, at The Sports Hub,” said Mike Thomas (left), who doubles as PD of The Sports Hub and Beasley’s National Spoken Word Brand Manager. “Not many people gave us a chance 10 years ago,” Thomas added. “We were heavy underdogs. But, so were Boston teams for many, many years. The ascendancy that Boston sports fans have experienced is unprecedented. We are just happy to have been along for the ride the past 10 years and we look forward to many more victories to come!” Mary Menna, VP/Market Manager of Beasley Boston, commented, “In 10 short years, Mike Thomas and the amazing team that he has assembled have built 98.5 The Sports Hub into an award winning iconic brand and a household name in New England.”
Thomas took to Facebook to promote this special programming, saying, “If you are in the Boston area or not… if you are a Boston fan or not… this is shaping up to be ‘must-listen radio.’ We are taking 10 hours and going commercial free and looking back on some of the biggest moments in Boston sports… and Sports Hub moment… since our sign on. I just listened to an amazing piece that Jim Louth put together for the noon hour, when we look back on the Marathon Bombings and the days that followed. We will have a lot of laughs on August 13th, but the noon hour might make you cry, and it will certainly make you proud.”
On August 13th, 98.5 The Sports Hub celebrates 10 years as Boston's Home for Sports. If you are in the Boston area or…
