Swenson Retiring From Nashville Public Radio

Nashville Public Radio announced that Steve Swenson, President & Chief Executive Officer, intends to retire from the company in late spring or early summer of this year, closing out a six-year run.

Swenson joined Nashville Public Radio in April 2019, bringing with him more than three decades of radio management experience, most recently as SVP/Market Manager for CBS Radio Washington. Before that Swenson was VP/GM of CBS Radio’s 1010 WINS and WCBS 880/New York and GM of WTOP/Washington. He earlier served as News Director and Program Director of 1010WINS.

“It has been an incredible privilege to lead Nashville Public Radio as it has enhanced its public service to this community,” said Swenson. “I’m excited to watch the company’s next chapter and its continued growth.”

Neil Thorne, Chairman of Board, said of Swenson, “Steve was exactly what we needed six years ago to transform Nashville Public Radio into the trusted public news and music source that Nashville deserves. With his team, he has positioned the organization to continue to grow and serve the city in exciting new ways. We wish him the very best in his retirement.”

A search is now underway for Swenson’s successor.
