They Want To Take You Higher!
• Voters in the state of Michigan recently passed Proposal 1, the Marijuana Legalization Initiative, which legalized the recreational use and possession of marijuana for persons 21 years of age or older, while also enacting a tax on marijuana sales.
Today, December 6, that law formally goes into effect, and in a patently transparent effort to generate “higher” ratings and “higher” revenue, Mid-West Family Mainstream Rock WIRX (Rock 107), which is licensed to St. Joseph, MI and covers most of Southwest Michigan, will be changing its name — this morning, The Plan B Morning Show with Brock & Hunter will debut the station’s temporary new handle — “Pot 107 W High RX.”
Management acknowledges that while the 24-hour name change may cause some confusion with both listeners and advertisers, “it will get us higher.” Bill Gamble, Director of Programming and Content for Mid-West Family South Bend, IN, commented, “Brock and Hunter are perfect for Pot 107 W High R X — they have difficulty thinking and problem-solving, staying focused on their show and they love to eat while on the air.”
