Turi Ryder: Published Author!
• It’s amazing to look back and realize that it was two years ago this month that we first mentioned that veteran major market personality Turi Ryder had written a book that she described as “a fictionalized radio memoir,” based on her experiences working at such notable stations as WLS/Chicago, KFRC and K101/San Francisco, KFI and KIIS-FM/Los Angeles, KIRO/Seattle, KGW/Portland and KSTP/Minneapolis, to name a few.
The glacial pace of the book-publishing industry notwithstanding, we are pleased to share the big news that Ms. Ryder’s book, lovingly titled, She Said What? A Life On The Air is finally out today, thanks to the efforts of small but mighty Chicago publisher, Tortoise Books. All the information you need, including a link to order the book is conveniently posted at shesaidwhat.net.
Radio satirist/genius Phil Hendrie calls She Said What? “A brilliant and hilarious book about the late great world of radio, written by a woman who knows it as well, if not better, than anyone who’s ever worked in it.” KFI/Los Angeles morning talent Bill Handel said, “It’s a great read! But I should probably say I hated it.” We especially enjoyed the “About The Author” segment that read, “Ryder’s not-quite-empty nest features a broadcasting studio and, variously, one spouse, two children, a rescued German Shepherd, and numerous marauding chickens.” Your congratulatory emails can be sent directly to Turi at turi@shebopsproductions.com.
