VuHaus Taps Yonker As Sponsorship Director

VuHaus Group, which operates public media’s only national music station network, has added the talents of long-time public radio sponsorship sales pro Geary Yonker as Sponsorship Director. In this role, Yonker will lead national sales efforts for VuHaus Group station affiliates and public radio music stations nationwide, as well as VuHaus Group’s NPR Music Live Sessions platform.

VuHaus Group Board Chairman Roger LaMay stated, “We are pleased to add a proven sales veteran with strong public radio music experience. [Geary] will hit the ground running.”

Yonker brings with him extensive public radio experience representing some of the most influential programs, podcasts, and member stations in public media. For 15 years, he led national sales efforts at WBEZ/Chicago, representing groundbreaking shows like This American Life and Serial. He also played a key role in launching the Vocalo Urban Alternative radio format and developing WBEZ’s first digital sales strategies.

Beyond public media, Yonker produces a three-day art and music festival in Chicago that has attracted over 500,000 guests since 2009. He remains deeply committed to public media and regularly served as an on-air host during WBEZ’s membership drives.

“Public radio is more than just the news. It’s a way of experiencing the world around you,” Yonker said. “Music plays a key role in that experience, and we intend to give non-commercial music stations all the tools they need to compete in this new environment.”
