What A Rush — Big Al’s Haunted Bar!
• Over the past few years we have shared the story of The Russell Rush Haunted Tour, the ambitious, annual Halloween feature produced by Russell Rush, PD and afternoon personality on iHeartMedia Top 40 KXXM (96.1 NOW)/San Antonio.
As Rush explains to RAMP, “Now in its 11th season, The Russell Rush Haunted Tour started out as a bit on the radio to poke fun at paranormal investigators, but turned into something much bigger. There we were, sitting in some abandoned building in the dark and I heard something call out my name… I was all, ‘wait a minute, turn the lights on… you mean this is real?!'” He continued, “From that moment on, I became curious, bought my own tools, and eventually a production team started following us. We’ve gone on to investigate abandoned hospitals, insane asylums, even a decommissioned navy ship… now, 11 years and two Emmys later… here we are.”
The 2018 version of the Haunted Tour is a special crossover episode with the syndicated Kidd Kraddick Morning Show, which is carried on 96.1 NOW. “Knowing what we do, Big Al Mack from the Kraddick Show reached out because he swore the bar he had just opened in Waxahachie, TX, (the aptly named “Big Al’s Down The Hatch”) was haunted. “The rest of the show didn’t believe him and told him to contact me,” said Rush, adding, “I didn’t believe him either. Thankfully, I ignored my intuition and we went to investigate and featured the location on the show… because it turned up the best paranormal evidence we have ever captured!”
