See Dayna Run
Author, lecturer and broadcast personality Dayna Steele, whose on-air career experienced its zenith at legendary AOR KLOL/Houston, has now set her sights on a political path. The Texas Radio Hall of Famer recently announced her candidacy for the Texas Congressional District 36 race at a stand-room-only press conference in the ballroom of the Hilton NASA Clear Lake. Steele, who will run as an Independent Democrat, acknowledged her status as “the most unlikely candidate for Congress,” as she assured the assembled crowd, “My heart is true, my passion is strong and, most importantly — have no doubt about it — I am a serious candidate and plan to be the first Congresswoman for the 36th Congressional District of Texas.”
Steele, who makes her home in the seaside community of Seabrook, TX, received an on-stage endorsement by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Joan Jett and Kenny Laguna during Jett’s recent performance in Houston, with Laguna sporting a “Dayna Steele For Congress” t-shirt. “Joan and Kenny did a very brave thing for me,” said Steele as she mingled with former listeners at intermission. “People with the courage so speak out are what inspired me to run for office in the first place.”
Broadcast marketing vets Marcus Gurske and Doug Harris have been recruited to serve on Steele’s campaign team. Additional information is available at DaynaSteele36.com.
