102 JAMZ Reborn In Orlando
• Audacy announces the relaunch of Orlando’s legendary 102 JAMZ brand, converting WQMP from Alternative FM 101.9 to “Orlando’s Home for Throwbacks,” now playing a collection of favorites from artists like 2Pac, Beyoncé, Eminem, Notorious B.I.G., Usher, etc. The frequency was famously home to the original 102 JAMZ from 1988 to 2014.
The company concurrently tapped Miguel “Mijo” Irizarry as Brand Manager of 102 JAMZ. He will hang onto his other day jobs as Brand Manager and afternoon drive talent for sister WPOW (Power 96)/Miami and Brand Manager of WAXY-AM (Radio Libre 790)/Miami.
“We’re thrilled to announce the return of this heritage brand and once again give listeners a destination for the hottest Throwback music,” said Claudia Menegus, Regional President, Audacy Orlando. “Some of these artists and records made 102 JAMZ a local favorite and has stood the test of time as one of the most iconic brands in Orlando. We trust that with Mijo’s leadership, we will create a unique, nostalgic experience for music lovers in Orlando and for every generation to enjoy.”
The newly revived 102 JAMZ has launched with… wait for it… 10,000 ‘JAMZ’ in a row. Additional on-air announcements will be made in the coming weeks.
