A Star Is Born In Texoma
• At 6am Wednesday, after 18 hours of stunting with songs containing the word “star,” Stephens Media Group formally flipped former Active Rock outlet KTRX/Dickson-Ardmore, OK to Top 40 as… wait for it… Star 92.7, now “Playing Today’s Best Music from Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, Ariana Grande, Imagine Dragons, and more!”
Explaining the reasoning behind the flip, Stephens Media Group CHR Format Captain, Tommy Del Rio tells RAMP, “We saw a need for a CHR that delivers HIT music focused on and customized solely for the fine folks in Texoma. Then, we added in well-known local personalities to the mix and we now have ourselves a great sounding radio station that shines in the market… a STAR is born!”
Existing KTRX staffers Jimmy Green and Mike Elroy remain aboard in mornings and middays, respectively. Afternoon drive is tracked by JoJo Lopez, who also does mornings on SMG sister KCDU/Monterey, CA, and the YEA Networks-syndicated Tino Cochino Radio will entertain at night.
