After 54 Years, Stone Ready To Roll

• A major career change is just days away for Dan Stone, Brand Manager of Midwest Communications’ Country WNCY (Y100)/Green Bay, who is wrapping up a remarkable 54-year broadcasting career — the last 34 with Midwest — this Thursday, Oct. 23 and relocating to Michigan’s scenic Upper Peninsula, where he says he will do some part-time voice work for local stations.

Stone notably served as PD of Top 40 sister 101 WIXX through the ’90s and early ’00s before migrating over to WNCY nearly 20 years ago. “I have been blessed with a 54-year career in broadcasting… what a great ride!” Stone tells RAMP. “Thanks to everyone who helped along the way and made work so much fun!”

While no permanent replacement has yet been named, in the interim, the care and feeding of WNCY will be handled by Y100 morning talent (and former PD) Randy “Shotgun” Shannon.

• Concurrent with Stone’s imminent departure, WNCY has put out the call for a talented fulltime air personality for afternoon drive. Key skills required include a fun, well-prepped, compelling show, positive interaction with listeners, public appearance skills, social media talent, production, promotion skills, and the ability to create ideas that will secure the growth of this superb brand.  Knowledge and ability to relate to the Country lifestyle is also a key to the success of the job.
