Alpha Media Feeling ‘Bull’-ish In Chicago?

• RAMP has learned of several personnel cuts inside Alpha Media’s suburban Chicago group amidst rumors of an imminent format flip.

Let’s start with the departures — Leslie Harris has exited middays at Classic Rock WERV (95.9 The River)/Aurora, while Maura “Mo” Myles has been released from the midday shift at Country clustermate 98.3 WCCQ/Joliet. Both Harris and Myles are longtime Chicago radio pros — Harris has been on the air there since the ’80s, with more than a half-dozen Windy City call letters to her credit. She had been on her second tour of duty at WERV.

Myles joined WCCQ in June 2019 after seven years in middays across the hall at Hot AC sister WSSR (Star 96.7)/Joliet. Myles previously co-hosted mornings on Classic Hits WLS-FM and also cracked the mic at WLS-AM, WMAQ-AM and WUSN.

And in early March we reported that, due to to “a corporate realignment,” 20-year company veteran Scott Childers had exited as Chief Engineer and on-air talent at WERV, WSSR (Star 96.7) & 1340 WJOL/Joliet, as well as WCCQ afternoon talent Chris Miles.

As we speak, rumblings are growing louder that Alpha Media may be planning to convert one or more of its suburban Chicago signals to its “Bull” Country brand based on KUPL (98.7 The Bull) in Alpha’s home market of Portland, OR. You are advised to watch this space for further updates.
