‘And THIS… Is Kojan’s New Gig’
• After six years as Production Coordinator at Hearst News-Talk WBAL and Active Rock WIYY (98 Rock)/Baltimore, our pal Harvey Kojan announced he’s leaving to become an Associate Producer at CNN Audio, where we are told he will be repurposing the audio from CNN’s TV shows for podcast/streaming purposes and lending his dulcet tones to voicing and editing Breaking News and promos.
Kojan said, “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Hearst, which remains one of the rare companies continuing to do radio the right way, employing a full staff of local managers and personalities, including (gasp) separate, off-air program directors! But the opportunity to be part of the explosive growth of CNN Audio and work remotely was just too good to pass up.”
Kojan’s illustrious 45-year radio industry career started back in 1976 at WQBK (Q104) and WPYX (PYX106)/Albany, NY. He later did mornings on WGRQ (97 Rock)/Buffalo, followed by three years as MD/afternoon drive at the late, great KLOL/Houston. We first met Harvey in the late ’80s when he was the AOR Editor at the late, legendary Radio & Records in Los Angeles. He returned to radio in 1993, embarking on a 16-year run as PD of WNOR (FM99)/Norfolk-Virginia Beach, followed by a four-year stint as PD of Times-Shamrock Classic Rock WZBA (100.7 The Bay)/Baltimore. He remained in Baltimore and was hired by Hearst in 2014.
Harvey begins his new CNN adventure on Monday, Sept. 27. You best wishes can be shared with him at harveykojan@gmail.com or 757-467-3763.
