Anthony Cumia Joins 77WABC/New York
• Red Apple’s 77WABC Radio/New York is excited to announce that Anthony Cumia, former half of the long-running Opie & Anthony show, is joining the staff as host of The Anthony Cumia Show Sundays from 8-10pm ET, beginning this very Sunday.
“Anthony has a strong and loyal following who have missed him on New York radio,” said Chad Lopez, President of Red Apple Media and 77WABC. “Anthony brings another element of entertainment to our weekend programming, which is about having fun.”
Cumia’s radio history dates back to 1994 as one half of Opie & Anthony alongside Gregg “Opie” Hughes, first on WBAB/Long Island, then WAAF/Boston, eventually landing in afternoon drive on WNEW-FM/New York City and going into national syndication. By 2004, the show moved to XM (now SiriusXM), and in 2014, Cumia launched The Anthony Cumia Show through another subscription-based platform.
“I am beyond thrilled to join 77WABC,” said Cumia. “They are the only ones doing great radio, and I’m looking forward to having a blast and connecting with my fans. I’m grateful to John Catsimatidis and Chad Lopez for offering me this opportunity. We’re going to have a great time!”
