Big Sky Move For Bill Stewart
• Townsquare Media has tapped veteran programmer/air talent Bill “Stu” Stewart as Director of Content (DOC) for the company’s Billings, MT group — KCTR (Cat Country 102.9), News-Talk KBUL-AM (103.3FM/970AM), Hot AC KKBR (Mix 97.1), AC KCHH (95.5/95.1 Lite FM) & Classic Rock KMHK (103.7 The Hawk).
Stewart commented, “When I first heard ‘Yellowstone,’ I thought I was replacing Kevin Costner in Season 6 of Yellowstone… turns out even better — it’s my return to radio and the county seat of Yellowstone in beautiful Billings, Montana. Seriously, I spent a few days there, and the culture and passion for radio is still very strong. Not only is Billings a growing, vibrant market, with less than 1.9% unemployment rate but the team already in place are incredibly talented, driven and yes, having FUN, the way radio is supposed to be.”
Stewart was most recently a media consultant for Acker Advertising in Phoenix, but he’s best known for his lengthy tenure in the Anchorage, AK market — from 1993 to 2015 he was PD/morning co-host at Top 40 101.3 KGOT under various owners, and from 2015 to late 2021 was PD/morning co-host at iHeartMedia’s KASH (KASH Country 107.5). He’s also worked at KZZP/Phoenix, the late WINX/Washington, DC and KOKU/Guam.
Stewart continued, “I really need to thank a lot of people here: First, Ms. Savannah Bullard, Townsquare Corporate Recruiter, who is now working for NASA; SVP Kevin Godwin, who really made this happen in a timely manner, and I appreciate it. Excited & grateful to our new Market President Karen Gallagher, thank you for giving me this incredible opportunity to grow the brands, ratings and revenues together and create new events, community entertainment and help our local businesses grow & thrive in Big Sky Country. I’d also like to thank Kurt Johnson, President of Local Programming for Townsquare Media and a huge high five to Doug Montgomery, VP of Country Content, tapping into both of their programming brains will be so valuable moving forward and growing the Townsquare Brands in Billings & the entire State of Montana.”
Stu is already on the job and can be contacted at Bill.Stewart@townsquaremedia.com.
