Bill Fox To Program WDEZ/Wausau
• Veteran programmer/air talent Bill Fox has been named Brand Manager and afternoon talent at heritage Country 101.9 WDEZ/Wausau, WI, owned by Duke Wright’s Midwest Communications. Yes, this was the mystery gig Fox teased us with yesterday when he announced his departure from mornings on Press Communications’ Classic Rock WWZY (107.1 The Boss)/Monmouth-Ocean, NJ.
This move marks a return to the Country format for Fox, who previously did mornings on Townsquare Country WOKQ/Portsmouth, NH prior to his arrival in New Jersey in March 2019. Fox has also done mornings on Pamal AC WYJB (B95.5)/Albany, NY and WFNK (107.5 Frank FM)/Portland ME, and his resume also includes stops at KXOA/Sacramento, KWYE/Fresno, KLLY/Bakersfield and WBHT/Wilkes-Barre, PA.
Fox said, “I’m trading in my pork roll and egg sandwich for brats and cheese curds! And finally, after 25 years, sleeping in past 3:30am! I’d like to thank Chief Operation Officer, Michael Wright, Market Manager Milko Villarreal and Operations Manager Rusty James for this amazing opportunity to lead such a legendary radio station. I can’t wait to get started.”
James commented, “I’m very excited to welcome Bill to our Central Wisconsin team. We are happy to include Bill’s passion, innovation and talent to the already successful group in Wausau and Central Wisconsin.” Fox starts his new adventure on Monday, June 21 and succeeds John Richards, who left the station in February.
