Bonneville Strikes Gold With ‘Alysa 96.5’

• The Bay Area’s most-listened-to radio station, Bonneville AC 96.5 KOIT/San Francisco is celebrating the success of Olympic figure skating gold medalist Alysa Liu all day Monday, February 23 by temporarily rebranding the station as “Alysa 96.5” in her honor.

The tribute comes just days after Oakland’s own Liu delivered a now-viral shout-out to her hometown. Moments after being crowned women’s singles Olympic champion at Milano Cortina 2026, the 20-year-old looked directly into the camera and exclaimed, ‘What is up Bay Area!’ a moment that has since captured the hearts of the region.

Liu won individual gold on Feb. 19, becoming the first American woman to claim the Olympic figure skating title in 24 years. The Richmond native, who trains at the Oakland Ice Center, ended a U.S. drought dating back to Sarah Hughes at Salt Lake City in 2002.

“Alysa Liu has made the entire Bay Area proud, and we wanted to celebrate her historic achievement in a way that reflects just how much she means to this community,” said Brian Figula, 96.5 KOIT Director of Programming Operations.
