Buffalo Preps For The Patriot

• Buddy Shula’s Radio One Buffalo recently announced it was acquiring 5,000-watt WHLD-AM 1270/Niagara Falls, NY from Cumulus Media in a deal that would give Radio One Buffalo a pair of giant AMs (along with Oldies WECK-AM) serving the Buffalo-Niagara Falls, NY market.

Last month Shula told us that the FCC had granted the station new WUSW call letters, effective June 1, the same day that the LMA between Cumulus and Radio One Buffalo begins. You can stop your speculation now — WUSW will become Conservative Talk “1270 AM The Patriot,” beginning July 4th.

Shula said, “I’m thrilled to be debuting a local talk station that deals with real issues. I feel the conservative talk lane is open, and that will give listeners a choice of the type of talk that they really want to hear.” To that end, The Patriot will feature The Sean Hannity Show weekdays from 3-6pm, along with a lengthy list of well known conservative talk hosts.

In addition to on-air at 1270AM and streaming at 1270thepatriot.com, The Patriot will utilize all media platforms, including voice-activated devices, mobile apps, Apple CarPlay, etc. Program Director Glenn Topolski said, “We are embracing the latest technology to ensure that everyone can hear the star-studded lineup of show hosts every day. The technology also includes all forms of social media, audio podcasting and video podcasting.”
