Cagle Lands In Louisville

• Veteran programmer Lee Cagle makes his way back to the South, hired by SummitMedia as Operations Manager of the company’s four-station Louisville group. Cagle, an Arkansas native (pictured here with a close, personal friend), received the nod after a nationwide search. He will now have operational oversight of Country WQNU (Q103.1), Classic Country WRKA (103.9 The Hawk), AC WVEZ (106.9 Play) and Classic Rock WSFR (107.7 The Eagle). He succeeds Shane Collins, who exits.

Cagle arrives from Northern California, where he spent the better part of the last five years with Results Radio as the Operations Manager of the company’s five-station cluster in Redding, CA. Before his west coast arrival in May 2013, Cagle spent nearly a decade with Cox Media Group Atlanta, where he programmed Urban WFOX (97.1 Jamz), Rhythmic WBTS (95.5 The Beat) and AC WSB-FM (B98.5). His previous programming stop includes KXHT (Hot 107.1)/Memphis.

Todd Pitt, President of SummitMedia Louisville stated, “We chose Lee due to his extensive experience in New Orleans, Redding, California, Memphis and Atlanta. He is the right person to guide our four stations to their fullest potential.” Cagle remarked, “I’m very excited to join the SummitMedia team. Summit’s passion for radio matches my own and I look forward to working with [SVP of Programming] Bill Tanner, National PD] John Olsen and Todd Pitt to take our great stations in Louisville to… [hang onto something] … the next level™.”

• Shane Collins (pictured) had been with the Louisville cluster since 2008 and was upped to OM in December 2010, under former owner Cox Media Group. SummitMedia acquired the Louisville group and five other CMG markets in February 2013. Earlier in his career Collins programmed Top 40 WDJX/Louisville when it was owned by Mainline.

As Collins relates to RAMP, “There are 29 rated stations in the Louisville market — three of my four were in the top 7 in the Fall 2017 book. Country, AC, Classic Hits, those are my strong points; in that order.” Collins is now seeking his next radio opportunity and can be reached at 502-558-004 or shanec1234@gmail.com.
