Career Crossroads For Erin Bristol
Bristol broke her big news in a lengthy Facebook post that reads, in part, “Wow… I’ve been dreading writing this because somehow making it ‘Facebook Official,’ makes it real… but I’ve decided to take my career in a new direction. After 28 years and a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and some of the best times of my life, I’m leaving radio for the non-profit sector, specifically Volunteers for Youth Justice. This has been on my heart for a long time, and when this opportunity became available, it spoke to me. This is what I need to feed my soul, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Townsquare Media Shreveport, I love my co-workers, especially that damn [morning co-host] Gary McCoy, but I have to do this for me.”
Bristol clarifies that she will not be leaving radio completely, and will remain with the company on a part-time basis. She added, “While I’m not sure what the future holds and I have too many people to thank for their support, please know I’m excited, scared, and most of all, ready to wake up again at a decent hour.”
• With Bristol’s time ticking down, Townsquare has already kicked off the search to fill two Bristol-related positions: 1) Digital & Radio Content Leader for KRUF and KXKS, and 2) Morning Show Co-Host/Digital Content Writer for KRUF. EOE.
