Champaign Welcome For Duane & Abby
• While we await the formal announcement, we can go ahead and let you know that Saga’s heritage, CMA Award-winning 100.3 WIXY/Champaign, IL has indeed found its new PD — and morning co-host, all in the same package — let’s give a sparkling Champaign welcome to Duane Shannon and his equally talented wife & co-host Abby Summers, who just arrived in the Land of Lincoln after recently wrapping up a 12-year run at Cumulus Country WGKX (Kix 106)/Memphis.
Shannon and Summers broke their own news in a Facebook post that reads, in part, “We have found our own little piece of heaven in Central Illinois with a strong radio family and a legacy Country brand that has reinvigorated our love of the format. We are so excited to become part of this tight-knit community; we feel like we have won the lottery!”
Duane & Abby will take over mornings on WIXY, and Shannon will also program WIXY and Classic Country cousin WYXY, succeeding JR Gonzalez, who left in February for family reasons. Shannon can now be reached at Duane@wixy.com.
