Changes In CD102.5 Programming Dept.

• The programming wing at Alternative WWCD (CD102.5)/Columbus, OH has just undergone some significant changes, starting with the announcement that Lesley James  is relinquishing her PD stripes after seven years in the position and will now focus on her afternoon drive show. In a statement, James (left) said, “I have resigned as Program Director at CD102.5. Thanks to all the amazing partners, artists, listeners, friends and family for a great 7-year run as PD. We can still hang out from 3-7pm ET and enjoy music together!”

Stepping up into the breach to succeed Ms. James is a familiar face — CD102.5 evening entertainer Mason “Mase” Brazelle (left), who joined CD102.5 in September 2016 to host the evening specialty show, The Stash. Before that he spent just over a year across the street doing nights on iHeartMedia’s now defunct Alternative outlet WXZX (105.7 The X) — now Sports-Talk 105.1 The Zone. Earlier in his career Brazelle spent 11 years with Alternative WKZQ/Myrtle Beach, SC, rising to APD/MD/afternoon personality. He followed that up with a three-year stint at FMQB as National Director Of Alternative & Rock Formats.

In a staff memo, CD102.5 owner Randy Malloy said, “I expect that Mase will take a bit of time to get settled in his new role, but I’m confident that he will live up to the high standards that have been an integral part of CD102.5 for many, many years.” Brazelle remarked, “I’m very excited to be back on the radio side of the business. After being on the promotion side for almost three years, I promise to answer phone calls and emails as much as I possibly can. I’ve always said everyone should wait tables for at least a little bit just to get it. Now I think every programmer should have to do promo as well. I have some huge shoes to fill but I’m really looking forward to the challenge.” Your congratulatory emails and virtual fruit baskets can be directed to Brazelle at mase@cd1025.com.
