Chris Tyler Named PD of WZLX/Boston
• Chris Tyler is coming home to Boston as the new PD of Classic Rock WZLX, which was recently acquired by iHeartMedia during the CBS Radio/Entercom merger.
Tyler most recently programmed iHeartMedia’s WMMS and WAKS (96.5 Kiss FM)/Cleveland, but he’s certainly no stranger to the iHeartMedia Boston broadcast complex, having previously programmed WXKS (Kiss 108) and WJMN (Jam’n 94.5)/Boston. He later transferred to Providence as SVP of Programming for the cluster and PD of Rock WHJY. He began his radio career at PRO-FM/Providence.
“I’m excited to bring Chris back to Boston to program WZLX,” said Dylan Sprague, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia’s Boston Region. “His knowledge and experience in the format, exceptional leadership and vision and maybe most importantly, his knowledge of Boston and its legendary radio brands, uniquely qualify him to lead this heritage station and its iconic personalities.”
Tyler said, “I can’t think of a better way to commemorate my 20th year with iHeartMedia than by returning home to program the legendary WZLX! I’ve been a huge fan of WZLX and its incredible airstaff for as long as I can remember. I can’t wait to meet everyone and get started rockin’ Boston.”
