Christine Unplugs From Middays @ ALT 92.3/NY
• After a four-year run in middays on Audacy’s WNYL (ALT 92.3)/New York, Christine Malovetz announced she is coming off the air to focus on her Regional VP of Programming duties, as recently hired Regional Brand Manager Brad Steiner steps into middays next week. “It’s bittersweet, but it’s time,” said Malovetz, posting the news to Instagram. “I’ll be focusing on my work with the @audacy alternative programming team, and I’m grateful for that (and them).”
She added, “20+ years ago, this smiling girl working at her hometown station, WBRU [Providence], had no idea what radio adventures lay ahead. I’ve been on air in some incredible places and made wonderful memories — and there’s more to come.”
Malovetz joined ALT 92.3 as midday personality in May 2018, transitioning from her APD/MD/midday position for Top 40 KNOU (NOW 96.3)/St. Louis. Prior stops (in addition to WBRU) include WKQX (Q101)/Chicago, the late WPLY (Y100)/Philadelphia, and WBTZ (99.9 The Buzz)/Burlington, VT, where she was known as “Electra.”
In closing, Malovetz said, “To everyone who’s been part of my on air journey, from mentors to colleagues to listeners: thank you, thank you, thank you.”
