Christopher K On The Loose
• RAMP has confirmed that Christopher K has exited as APD/MD and afternoon drive talent on Entercom Top 40 KUDL (106.5 The End)/Sacramento. K had been with the station (formerly KDND) since it launched 21 years ago and was the station’s only MD. He added APD stripes in 2016.
As Mr. K related to RAMP last year on the occasion of his 20th anniversary with the station, “I was one of the three original jocks hired by Steve Weed. My first day in the building was Oct. 5, 1998, and we hit the air on October 7.” K did nights for the first four years and was promoted to afternoons in October 2002, where he had reigned ever since. In February 2017, the station changed frequency to 106.5 and adopted the KUDL calls.
RAMP caught up with Christopher, who shared his thoughts about the past two-plus decades at The End. He said, “What a fun honor it is to start with a station on day one, then see it grow from a baby to a full-on adult ratings monster (hey, we turned 21 this year!). From working nights in the Britney/N’SYNC era to playing Ariana and Post these days in the afternoons, I’ve seen it all over the past 21 years at The End. I’m grateful for every day I got to crack the mic and keep the fine folks of Sacramento entertained on their drives home. I’ll even miss you fun label peeps, some of which have been working me on records since my Chico days, even further back into the ’90s! I know [PD] Rayne and the team at Entercom Sacramento will keep kickin’ butt, but for now I’m going to enjoy getting some bonus time with my family. I’m very excited to see where my next adventure will lead.”
Christopher K is now seeking his next radio opportunity and can be reached at SFGiants8902@yahoo.com.
