Chuck Trades In WPOC For WASH
Concurrent with Jeff Wyatt‘s appointment as Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia’s four-station Baltimore cluster and PD of Country WPOC and Adult Hits WQSR (102.7 Jack-FM) comes word that Tommy Chuck will annex PD responsibilities for AC WASH/Washington. He will continue to program Top 40 WIHT (Hot 99.5). Chuck joined iHeartMedia way back in 2000 as PD of WKXJ/Chattanooga, TN and worked his way up the company’s programming ladder, with stints at WQEN/Birmingham, AL and WXXL (XL106.7)/Orlando, FL, before landing in Tampa for an eight-year run as as PD and Digital Director for WFLZ and WMTX. Chuck spent the last two years programming Hot 99.5 and WPOC/Baltimore, the later of which he now bequeaths to Mr. Wyatt.
Jeff Kapugi, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia’s D.C. Region, remarked, “Tommy Chuck is a solid as they come. I’ve worked with Tommy in some fashion since he got into this business and I’m thrilled to have him focused on such an important brand as WASH-FM in addition to the amazing things he has been doing on Hot 99.5.” Chuck commented, “I’m honored to now lead the two most-listened-to radio stations in Washington, D.C. Like Hot 99.5, 97.1 WASH-FM is a blue-chip brand with an incredible history and even brighter future. Thanks to iHeartMedia for believing in me. Thanks to my family for supporting me. I’m blessed to have this opportunity.” Both of these moves follow this week’s departure of market vet Kenny King, who was programming WASH/Washington and WQSR/Baltimore.
