Columbus Brews Classic Rock Again
• After a four-year absence, iHeartMedia has revived its former Classic Rock “Brew” brand in Columbus, OH, flushing the format on Sports-Talk 105.7 The Zone on WXZX and re-launching 105.7 The Brew, “The New Generation of Classic Rock.”
105.7 The Brew is now playing a bunch of awesome rock hits from the ’80s into the 2000s from AC/DC, Foo Fighters, Tom Petty, Soundgarden, Van Halen, Metallica, Mötley Crüe, Guns N’ Roses… you get the idea. The Brew will also feature veteran Columbus rock radio personalities Mark Blazor and DaveMan.
The 105.7 frequency in Columbus has been rather active over the past few years — the original 105.7 The Brew (under its former WBWR calls) existed until Dec. 2014, when the station morphed into Alternative as 105.7 The X. That adventure lasted until November 2016, when the station flipped to Sports-Talk as 105.7 The Zone. Which brings us full-circle back to The Brew.
“We are excited to offer a unique station for Columbus’ rock listeners,” said Michael McCoy, VP of Programming for iHeartMedia Columbus. “The Brew’s mission is to provide one great rock song after another, and that’s why we call it ‘The New Generation of Classic Rock.'” The Brew’s jock line-up looks like this — Mark Blazor (mornings); Theresa (middays); DaveMan (afternoons); Bodhi (nights).
