Columbus Gains A Country Cousin

• North American Broadcasting Company made some waves in Columbus, OH Friday morning by flipping WJKR from Adult Hits to Country 103.9, pointed directly onto the front porch of iHeartMedia Country mainstay WCOL.

North American President & CEO Matt Mnich said, “Country music is the most popular format in the United States because of the loyalty of the audience and the attractive demographics it delivers. Having programmed Country for more than three decades in the past, we know the value of the listeners and the power of the music. Central Ohio deserves more than one choice for Country music and we couldn’t be happier to be back in Country radio.”

Fittingly, the new Country 103.9 is under the command of market veteran John Crenshaw, who famously programmed the aforementioned WCOL from 2001-2012 and joined North American Broadcasting as OM in January. Crenshaw said, “I moved to Columbus 28 years ago to build a world-class Country station, and I’m proud to have been part of that success. I’m now looking forward to doing it once more with Country 103.9.”

Country 103.9 will introduce its air staff in the next few weeks. Crenshaw can be contacted at 614-481-7800 or jcrenshaw@nabco-inc.com
