Cumulus Ups Philips To Chief Content Officer
• Cumulus Media has promoted Brian Philips to Chief Content Officer, now responsible for content across all Cumulus platforms. Philips had previously served as Executive Vice President, Content and Audience, since 2019.
He reports directly to Mary G. Berner, Cumulus President & CEO, who remarked, “Brian Philips is an exceptional executive and the perfect choice to lead our programming efforts as we continue to execute our audio-first strategy, which is transforming the Company from a traditional radio broadcaster into a multi-dimensional audio media company. This promotion reflects Brian’s tremendous contributions, and I have full confidence in his creative vision, operational expertise, and savvy leadership to guide us through this critical evolution.”
Prior to joining Cumulus in 2019, Philips spent nine years as President of Viacom/MTV Networks’ CMT, where he led the music network’s successful forays into long-form scripted series, tent-pole awards shows, concert specials and feature films. He also developed CMT’s successful national radio network. Philips earlier spent more than 15 years programming a number of major market stations, including Cumulus stations WNNX and WWWQ/Atlanta and KPLX/Dallas-Ft. Worth.
