Current Seeks Killer New APD
• Back in April we reported that Lindsay Kimball, longtime APD of Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) Triple A KCMP (The Current)/Minneapolis-St. Paul had been promoted to MPR’s Regional Director of Membership. Now that Ms. Kimball (left) is fully settled into her new role, The Current has put out the call to find a talented replacement.
“Lindsay was an amazing APD,” said Jim McGuinn, PD of The Current. “We’re happy that she was promoted to the director role in Membership, and now we’re starting our search for our next APD. This is a crucial job, working with the programming team and across nearly every department of Minnesota Public Radio, and we need someone who is smart, hard-working, creative, knowledgeable of our music, an excellent teammate, and ready to jump in to help us grow into the future of The Current.”
The position requires helping to manage operations of The Current, as well as content initiatives and projects. The APD will work with the play-to-air system and MusicMaster databases and also serve as a liaison with the network of MPR stations and the marketing and sales departments to coordinate promotions and events. You will also work on promotions, underwriting, and help to maintain The Current’s programming and sound — collaborating on special programming, on air promos, and be a part time host on-air. Check out more information on the APD role and use the handy online application. The deadline is July 3.
• The Current is also taking applications for a part-time host role. McGuinn said, “We need more depth at the host role, and look forward to finding the next talent that will join us at The Current in an on-air capacity.”
