Dave Russell: Free Agent
• Dave Russell was among the six talented pros recently released by Cumulus in Central PA. Russell has served as PD and afternoon talent at AC WARM (WARM 103.3)/York-Lancaster, PA since Sept. 2015. It had been Russell’s second stint at WARM 103.3 — he previously programmed the station from 2007 through 2009.
On Friday, Russell shared this message with RAMP: “It’s been several weeks since I was released from my position at WARM 103.3. I look back fondly on the past 9 years. The station was a mess when I arrived in 2015. But thanks to great team members Melanie Gardner and Liz Bell, promotions people like Melissa Mann and Lee Jacoby, and corporate programming support from Mike McVay, Emily Boldon, and more recently, Chris Hoffman and Doug Hamand, I proudly leave WARM in a great ratings position. We hit No. 2 Women 25-54 in the York spring book, and No. 2 Women 25-54 in the Harrisburg summer book. I understand that despite that, it’s a difficult sales environment and that prompted the cuts.”
Russell’s earlier programming stops, all in Pennsylvania, include Country WOGG (Froggy 94.9/103.5/104.3)and Classic Hits WPKL (Pickle 92.1/99.3) in suburban Pittsburgh, and WSBA/York and WCTO &WLEV/Allentown, PA.
