DJ ECTO1 Named APD Of KDAY
• Matthew “DJ ECTO1” Hernandez, MD of Meruelo Media Classic Hip Hop 93.5 KDAY/Los Angeles has been promoted to Assistant Program Director/Brand Lead. In this newly expanded role, Hernandez will oversee programming, research, marketing activities, music selection, personnel management, FCC compliance, and promotional strategies, while continuing to closely collaborate with sister station KPWR (Power 106).
In making the announcement, Meruelo Media SVP Audio Brands and Content, Pio Ferro said, “Matthew is the leader that KDAY needs today. He has a refreshing perspective on our legendary music brand while simultaneously bringing a vigorous vibe, solid work ethic, and execution skills.”
Hernandez said, “I grew up listening to KDAY and always dreamed of working here. It’s an honor and a huge responsibility to lead the first Hip-Hop radio station in America. I’m a huge fan of the original West Coast sound that was born on KDAY. I am proud to work with this amazing team and KDAY’s strong legacy and vision.”
Hernandez was previously the head of Hip-Hop and EDM programming for Dash Radio in Hollywood, CA, PD/MD of American General Media Top 40 KDLW & Rhythmic KAGM/Albuquerque, and worked in programming and mixing for Gold Coast Rhythmic KCAQ & Top 40 KFYV/Oxnard/Ventura, CA and LC Media Rhythmic Oldies KQIE/Redlands, CA.
