Done Deal: McKenna PD of Star 94.1/Atlanta
• It’s official — as initially reported last week by RAMP, Entercom has now formally named New England radio pro Jerry McKenna as the new PD of Hot AC WSTR (Star 94.1), with a start date of Sept. 30.
“I’m excited for Jerry McKenna to bring his breadth of knowledge to Star 94.1,” said Rick Caffey, SVP/Market Manager, Entercom Atlanta. “His insight and experience will be invaluable as we continue to deliver the engaging content Atlanta listeners deserve and expect from our station.”
McKenna was most recently Director of Programming for Cape Cod Broadcasting (CCB Media) until a year ago. Before that he was OM and Regional PD of the Cumulus Media clusters in Worcester and Springfield, MA. McKenna started his radio career at the legendary WXKS (Kiss 108)/Boston, and his Boston radio resume also includes the late WZOU, WQSX (Star 93.7)/WMKK (93.7 Mike FM) and WBMX (Mix 98.5). His first PD post was at WWKX (Hot 106)/Providence.
“I’m thrilled to be rejoining the Entercom programming team in a dynamic city like Atlanta,” said McKenna. “I want to thank Rick Caffey and [Entercom Chief Programming Officer] Pat Paxton for this great opportunity. There is no doubt that Star 94.1 is a heritage brand with tremendous equity in the market. I look forward to working with the entire team to continue growing the brand.” McKenna succeeds Ron Roberts, who exited in June.
