Dunn Deal At Norfolk’s Eagle
• Well, that was quick – less than two weeks after his return to Max Media’s WGH (97.3 The Eagle)/Norfolk, this time as the station’s new afternoon drive talent, the company has promoted Jimmy Ray Dunn to Program Director. It was concurrently announced that longtime Eagle MD/midday personality Karen West has been awarded APD stripes as well.
Dunn (left) famously enjoyed a 20-year run as the Eagle’s morning co-host until 2015. For the past six years he had been doing his own online radio show and pursuing a career in real estate, before returning on Aug. 1. Dunn remarked, “I’m excited to use my three decades of experience with the Eagle to give it back to the people, the listeners who have always been the lifeblood of the station!”
West (right) commented, “My passion for this station and our listeners grows every day and I am extremely excited to continue to provide Hampton Roads with the best in Country music.”
Keith Barton, President & Market Manager for Max Media Hampton Roads, remarked, “I have worked here with Jimmy Ray and Karen for almost 25 years. Seeing them team up to lead 97.3 The Eagle, knowing their passion and dedication to this iconic brand, ensures the continued success of the station.”
