Elroy Smith Joins CMG Orlando/Jacksonville
• Cox Media Group welcomes programming veteran Elroy Smith as Director of Branding & Programming for Urban AC WCFB (Star 94.5)/Orlando, and Urban Power 106.1 (WJGL-HD2) and Urban AC Hot 99.5 (WOKV-HD2)/Jacksonville. Smith will be based in Orlando and replaces Dawn Campbell in Orlando and Clarence Natto in Jacksonville, both of whom recently left the company.
Smith brings with him more than 30 years of experience in strategic planning, operations, and creativity in major markets, including Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia and most recently, five years as PD of Bonneville Urban AC KBLX/San Francisco.
In his new role, Smith reports to Steve Stewart and Jules Riley, Director of Operations in Orlando and Jacksonville, respectively. “I am overwhelmed with joy and excitement to be joining Cox Media Group,” said Smith. “I’ve always wanted to be a part of this winning and revered media company that puts its employees first. I look forward to working with Steve and Jules, along with Jason Meder, VP/GM in Orlando and Katie Reid, VP/GM in Jacksonville, and their teams. Their warm welcome has already made me feel at home.”
Smith’s three decades of programming experience also includes a stint as OM of SummitMedia’s cluster in Greenville-Spartanburg, SC and OM of Radio One Philadelphia and PD of Urban AC WRNB and Inspirational WPPZ. Earlier in his career Smith spent 15 years in Chicago as OM/PD of Clear Channel Urban WGCI, Urban AC WVAZ (V103) and OM of Gospel WGRB-AM, and back in the day, Smith was VP of Programming of Nash Communications and PD of the legendary WILD-AM/Boston.
