Erich West: Same Guy, Bigger Hat
• iHeartMedia Huntsville keeps it in-house and taps Erich West as the new PD of Country WDRM. West (hat sold separately) will continue to serve as the market’s Senior Vice President of Programming. The WDRM PD post has been vacant since August, when Abby Zellmer resigned to pursue opportunities outside of radio.
“After an extensive search, we determined that there was no one better suited for this opportunity than Erich himself,” said Carmelita Palmer, Market President for iHeartMedia Huntsville. “He has a deep understanding of WDRM, a passion for the music and station, and solid relationships within the industry. With Erich at the helm, I’m confident that WDRM will continue to be the Country powerhouse in the Huntsville metro.”
West arrived in Huntsville in 2006 from the OM post at iHeartMedia Macon, GA. He began his career at WZLM/Alexander City, AL. “I’m excited for the chance to add more focus to such a legendary brand as WDRM,” West said. “Huntsville is an amazing market with passionate Country fans, and the team here is incredible. We are also fortunate to be in iHeartMedia’s Nashville region along with some of Country radio’s best programmers, who I look forward to working with closely. Thank you to the entire iHeartMedia team for affording me this opportunity.”
