Escalera Named PD, 104.5 Latino Hits/San Antonio
• iHeartMedia San Antonio welcomes Pedro Escalera as the new Program Director of Latin Pop KZEP (104.5 Latino Hits), “San Antonio’s Numero Uno Para HITS.”
Escalera, a.k.a. Pedro Al Aire joins iHeartMedia San Antonio after a decade with Emmis Austin (now Waterloo Media), where he was PD/morning host at the now former Latino 102.7 (KLZT-HD2) until 2019. He also did nights for AGM’s KJFA (Fuego 102.9)/Albuquerque, NM. Escalera began his career in Phoenix at then HBC-owned Regional Mexican KHOT-FM, followed by stops at Sun City Comm Bilingual Top 40 KVIB-FM and iHeartMedia Top 40 KZZP, along with a stint with Border Media in Austin.
Escalera now reports to Jason McCollim, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia San Antonio & Austin, who noted, “There was no doubt in our minds that Pedro was the perfect fit to lead the 104.5 Latino Hits brand, thanks to his extensive expertise in the Spanish CHR format.
