Family First For Gary Williams
• In early January we reported that Gary Williams, the longtime Director Of Branding & Programming for Cox Media Group AC WFEZ (Easy 93.1)/Miami was taking on similar responsibilities for heritage Soft AC sister WDUV/Tampa. Today we received word that Williams, a 17-year CMG veteran, was relinquishing those Tampa duties for deeply personal reasons, while retaining his existing Miami role.
In a statement, Williams told RAMP, “Shortly after accepting the WDUV PD position, our family received word that our beloved mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness. After careful thought, I decided it would be best to step away from the added responsibility and focus on family at this time.” He added, “I wish the talented team in Tampa continued success. I will continue in my programming role at WFEZ/Miami.”
Cox Media Group Tampa will make use of existing programming resources to cover WDUV — Rick Thomas, OM of CMG Tampa and PD of Top 40 WPOI (Hot 101.5) will now assume programming duties for WDUV.
