Four CMG Pros Enter Black Radio HOF

• Cox Media Group’s WCFB (Star 94.5)/Orlando proudly celebrates four of its own — Elroy Smith, JoJo O’Neal, Lorenzo “Ice Tea” Thomas, and Marc Young — who were inducted into the National Black Radio Hall of Fame at the National Black Radio Hall of Fame Museum at Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis. Their inductions recognize decades of dedication to broadcasting, community impact, and contributions to the culture of Black radio. Pictured, clockwise from top left:

• Elroy Smith, CMG’s Director of Urban Content, is well known as one of radio’s top programmers. He has helped to break major artists such as New Edition, Vanilla Ice, Alicia Keys, and Kirk Franklin, and was a mentor to industry icons like Steve Harvey, Tom Joyner, the late Doug Banks, Rickey Smiley, and Charlamagne Tha God.

• Over the course of her four-decade radio career, Star 94.5 midday personality JoJo O’Neal has devoted her platform to education and advocacy. Following her own asthma diagnosis in 2004, she founded the Let’s Kick Asthma Foundation, a non-profit that educates, inspires, and supports those living with the disease.

• Lorenzo “Ice Tea” Thomas, Star 94.5’s afternoon drive talent, was recognized for a broadcasting career spanning over 30 years. He’s the recipient of numerous awards, the latest coming this past weekend, when he was recognized by Onyx Magazine at their “Men of Honor” awards.

• Celebrating a 35-year career producing shows in major markets, Marc Young has voiced stations nationwide, including sister WHQT (Hit 105)Miami, where he serves as Production Director/on-air talent. He also does weekends at Star 94.5/Orlando and WTBV (101.5 The Vibe)/Tampa.

“It’s impossible to explain how proud and humbled I am to share the same hallways with these Hall of Fame broadcasters,” said JC Campese, VP/Market Manager of CMG Orlando Radio. “I’m so happy that Elroy, JoJo, Lorenzo and Marc have received the recognition they so well deserve!”
