Free Agent: Mike Nelson
• Mike Nelson is now an in-demand free agent as he exits Riverbend Communications’ group in Idaho Falls, ID after a ten-year run. Nelson was OM of the five-station cluster, PD of Top 40 KFTZ (Z103) and PD/morning personality on AC KLCE.
Nelson’s previous programming resume includes three years as PD of Entercom Hot AC WMYX (99.1 The Mix)/Milwaukee, preceded by a seven-year stint as PD/mornings on Bonneville Hot AC KQMB (Star 102.7)/Salt Lake City. Ironically, Nelson started his radio career at KFTZ back in 1989, working his way up from part-timer to PD and morning talent.
RAMP caught up with Nelson, who told us, “When stations hire me, they keep me — I’ve worked at four stations in 30 years. I’ve had programming and on-air success in both small and large markets.
