Frisina And FM Radio Reunited

• Nice to see (and hear) Syracuse, NY radio icon Dave Frisina back in action — and in glorious Frequency Modulation — this weekend, as his long-running Triple A streaming show, Soulshine debuts on Cornell University’s student-run Alternative 93.5 WVBR/Ithaca, NY, where a one-hour version of the three-hour show will air on Saturdays from 4-5pm, starting tomorrow. As Frisina told CNYRadio.com, “WVBR was the first FM station I listened to when I was attending Cortland State in the ’70s, and it’s cool being a contributor to their lineup, all these years later.”

Frisina, a Syracuse radio fixture since 1978, launched Soulshine in September 2012, shortly after he joined Cumulus Classic Rock The Rebel/Syracuse, NY, riding the station through its 2019 sale to EMF and the format’s subsequent transition to a streaming-only existence, eventually resulting in his departure in April 2022.

Soulshine has been streaming on Live365 for the past few years, and three weeks ago was picked up by Radio St. Pete (WLMX-LP), on their Sounds of St. Pete stream.

Frisina tells RAMP, “It’s been creatively very satisfying to program SoulshineRadio.com on streaming platforms, and Radio St. Pete shares my attention to Local Artists! Plus, it’s rewarding to also be broadcasting on a radio station in Ithaca, so close to where I started my career almost 50 years ago.”
