Frugé Named PD of RadioNow/Indy & Houston
• Charese Frugé has made her triumphant return to the wonderful world of radio programming, as she has been hired by Urban One as CHR Format Captain and PD of Radio One Top 40 duo WNOW (RadioNOW 100.9)/Indianapolis and KROI (RadioNOW 92.1)/Houston.
Ms. Frugé will be based in Indianapolis but will be commuting back and forth to Houston — a market she is well acquainted with, thanks to her most recent radio stint as VP of Programming and Operations for CBS Radio Houston and PD of Top 40 KKHH (now Adult Hits 95.7 The Spot) and Hot AC KHMX (Mix 96.5) until November 2016. Before that Frugé notably spent a decade with CBS Radio Las Vegas, where she rose to VP of Programming and PD of Hot AC KMXB (Mix 94.1) and Alternative KXTE (X107.5).
Commenting on her new gig, Frugé told RAMP, “I’m very excited about my new Radio One family and the opportunity to work with such great brands. Peyton Manning spent 14 years in Indy and won a Super Bowl, so it’s a great reminder that every day is game day. It’s also bittersweet to be able to program in Houston again and I’m very excited to be reunited with DJ Riddler and work with him in both markets. I can’t wait to dive in.” Frugé’s earlier programming stops include KKBQ (93Q)/Houston, KYSR (Star 98.7)/Los Angeles, KLLC (Alice @ 97.3)/San Francisco, KALC (Alice 105.9)/Denver, the former KSCF/San Diego and WEZB (B97)/New Orleans.
• It was concurrently announced that KROI MD DJ Riddler (left) has been promoted to APD/MD for KROI and WNOW as well. The move also reunites Riddler and Ms. Frugé, who previously worked together at KKHH/Houston. Riddler remarked, “I’m thankful for the opportunity that Urban One has given me and I’m excited to be re-united with Charese Frugé. I’m looking forward to helping strengthen the Radio Now brands in Houston and now in Indianapolis.”
• Terri Thomas continues as Operations Manager for Radio One Houston Market and PD of Urban AC KMJQ (Majic 102.1) and Rhythmic Top 40 KBXX (97.9 The Box). Frugé is already on the job and can be congratulated at cfruge@radio-one.com.
