Fuzz In The Forecast For Wilkes-Barre/Scranton
• After a four-year hiatus, Times-Shamrock in scenic Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA proudly resurrects a fan-favorite — welcome back, Fuzz 96.1, NEPA’s Alternative Rock Station! The brand will be carried on W241AZ/Scranton and W241BB/Wilkes-Barre along with WEZX-HD3 and Fuzz961.com and is designed to complement the company’s market-leading Classic Rock station Rock 107 (simulcast on WEZX / WPZX / WLGD).
Fuzz 96.1 is under the command of SVP/Market Manager Terry Deitz and OM/PD Mark Hoover, and is consulted by Michelle Rutkowski, OM of The Milwaukee Radio Alliance and legendary Milwaukee Alternative Rock station 102.1 WLUM.
Fuzz 96.1 is the only station in Northeast Pennsylvania featuring artists such as Imagine Dragons, Muse, Nirvana, Beck, Radiohead, Florence + the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Twenty One Pilots, and Kings of Leon, etc.
Hoover said, “People have been asking me for years, ‘what happened to Fuzz?’ I would always reply, ‘I miss it too’ … and after a few years we had the opportunity to bring it back.”
Times-Shamrock CEO Jim Loftus added, “Fuzz is a fan favorite in NEPA. With its return, we are happy to present this new distinct on-air brand. Fuzz 96.1 compliments Rock 107, our iconic Classic Rock market leader with the market’s only Alternative Rock choice.”
Loftus notes that, for the first time in 102 years as broadcasters in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the company now boasts four on-air products — Fuzz 96.1, Rock 107, Hot AC duo WQFM/WQFN (92.1 & 100.1), and Sports Radio WEJL 630AM/94.1FM/Wilkes-Barre & 102.7/Scranton.
