Garfield Named PD of WDJX/Louisville
Well, the incredible suspense over where JD Garfield is going didn’t last as long as we expected… Alpha Media just announced Garfield as the new PD/afternoon drive personality at heritage Top 40 WDJX/Louisville. Garfield is a 20-year radio vet who segues from his current post as PD of Impact Radio Group Rhythmic KWYD (Wild 101.1)/Boise, ID. His previous programming department stops include OM/PD of Mid-West Family Top 40 KOSP (92.9 The Beat) and Active Rock KQRA/Springfield, MO and a six-year stint at the helm of sister WJQM (93.1 Jamz)/Madison, WI. Alpha Media VP of Programming, Phil Becker commented, “I’ve been a fan of JD’s brands for some time. I’ve enjoyed watching him in some very competitive radio battles and I look forward to fighting alongside him.”
Alpha Media, Louisville SVP/Market Manager, Bill Gentry added, “We are pleased to attract someone with JD’s experience and programming expertise to lead 99.7 DJX. Anticipate a fresh coat of paint on Louisville’s top-rated, heritage CHR station!” OM Ben Davis remarked, “JD is a leader who brings a wealth of programming experience, a strategic approach, and loads of personality. I believe he’ll have no problems fitting in with this crew. I’m excited to welcome him to Louisville and watch him put his unique stamp on DJX.” Garfield said, “Working with the likes of Ben Davis, Bill Gentry, Scott Mahalick and Phil Becker will certainly be a landmark achievement for me. They are some of the best programming minds in the business. WDJX is legendary in Louisville, and to be given the reins for this amazing brand is both humbling and exciting for me. Big things are coming.”
Garfield succeeds Jeremy “Otis” Maher, who left in February to become MD/afternoon drive talent at iHeartMedia Country WUBL (94.9 The Bull)/Atlanta.
