Ginny Brophey Ready To Unplug

• UPDATED: Ginny Rogers Brophey — Brand Manager of Townsquare Country 97.5 WOKQ/Portsmouth, NH, a 2025 inductee into the Country Radio Hall of Fame and one of the format’s most respected leaders — announced she will retire in August, after more than four decades of shaping the sound of New England Country radio. Brophey is probably best known for her 24-year run as APD/MD of Beasley Country WKLB/Boston and its predecessor WBCS, followed by two years as PD of iHeartMedia rival WBWL (101.7 The Bull). Brophey began her radio journey at Townsquare’s 101.5 WPDH/Poughkeepsie, NY, and now brings it full circle by wrapping up her remarkable run at another Townsquare heritage station.

“Ginny is one of the absolute best ever to do it,” said Christine Sieks, Townsquare RVP and NH Market President. “She has a gift for programming, a heart for the format, and a deep respect for the audience. Ginny didn’t just work in Country radio — she helped define it.”

Brophey remarked, “I have loved my job every single day. Country radio, especially my teams, along with the artists, managers, labels, promoters, venues — and most importantly, the fans — have given me a lifetime of incredible memories. I’ve had an amazing run, and I’m so grateful to Townsquare for the support and trust to do what I love every day. This was 100% my decision, and it feels like the right time to pass the mic. My family is growing, and they need more of me. And with the incredible honor of being inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame on July 21st, the timing couldn’t be more meaningful.”

Townsquare Media is launching a nationwide search to fill this dream opportunity to follow in Ginny’s footsteps. “WOKQ is more than a radio station — it’s a way of life on the Seacoast,” Brophey said. “Whoever steps into this role will be stewarding a brand with deep roots, loyal fans, and a team that lives and breathes great Country radio.”
