Gravy On The Loose!
• RAMP has learned that Kevin “Gravy” Canup is leaving his position as Operations Manager of SummitMedia’s Knoxville group and PD of Rhythmic WKHT (Hot 104.5) after two years and is headed back to Michigan. More on that development in a moment…
Canup earned the transfer to Knoxville in March 2019, after a year as APD/afternoons at Country cousin WQNU (Q103.1)/Louisville. A Chicago native, Canup notably spent over a decade with Cumulus Top 40 WHTS (105.3 Hot FM)/Grand Rapids, MI, rising through the ranks to PD. His previous programming stop was NextMedia’s WCZQ (Hot 105.5)/Champaign, IL. Earlier in his career Canup was on-air at KNDA/Corpus Christi, TX and KTKO/Beeville, TX.
RAMP caught up with Gravy, who said, “I would really like to thank SummitMedia for all the great opportunities they have given me, including my first chance to be an Operations Manager. I am happy to announce that my fiancé Mindy received a promotion with her company — she followed me to Tennessee and I will be following her back to Michigan. I’m open for on air, programming and Operations Manager opportunities in the Michigan area. Feel free to call me at 616-337-0076 or email me at kcradio815@gmail.com.”
• SummitMedia EVP of Programming Randy Chase is now seeking a successor to lead the Knoxville cluster. This opening is for a proven pro who LOVES music, is passionate about radio, and is an excellent executer! Qualified candidates should send their stuff to careers.knoxville@summitmediacorp.com.
