Gravy Trades Louisville For Knoxville

• Kevin “Gravy” Canup has been tapped as the new Operations Manager of SummitMedia’s four-station Knoxville, TN group and PD/afternoon personality for Top 40 WWST (Star 102.1). The Knoxville cluster also includes Country WCYQ (Q100.3), Rhythmic WKHT (Hot 104.5) and Classic Hits WNOX. Canup, a Chicago native, earns the big transfer from SummitMedia Country sister WQNU (Q103.1)/Louisville, where he has served as APD/afternoon driver since April 2018. Before that he spent over a decade with Cumulus Top 40 WHTS (105.3 Hot FM)/Grand Rapids, MI.

Chris Protzman, Market President of SummitMedia Knoxville stated, “Kevin ‘Gravy’ Canup comes to Knoxville Operations with extensive experience in CHR, Rhythmic and Country brand-building and has a passionate desire to serve our local audiences through our hyper-local focus. I’m confident that under Kevin’s leadership our stations will be an even greater source of preferred entertainment and engaging promotions with our listener and advertiser communities.” Canup stated, “I’m thankful to have been a part of the history-making team in Louisville at WQNU and I look forward to helping create those same opportunities with our Knoxville team. I’m thankful to Summit for entrusting me with this great responsibility and the opportunity to work with this amazing Knoxville team!”

• Now, the flip side of Canup’s arrival — it coincides with the departure of Knoxville market fixture Rich Bailey, who exits after nearly 23 years in the building. Bailey is now seeking his programming opportunity and can be reached at runner2240@yahoo.com.
