Greg Williams Earns Hall Of Fame Honors
• We would like to join Entercom and the rest of the industry in congratulating Greg “The Hitman” Williams, longtime PD and morning co-host at Entercom Rhythmic KDGS (Power 95.3)/Wichita, KS on his impending induction into the Kansas African American Museum (TKAAM) Hall of Fame. Williams will be the recipient of the Broadcast/Journalism Trailblazer award, to be presented during the organization’s annual Trailblazers Gala on October 5 in Wichita.
Trailblazer honorees are leaders, pacesetters and pioneers who have made a significant impact in their respective professions and who have contributed to the community and have made a positive impact. Williams will be in some pretty heady company — his fellow inductees include the late, Kansas-born, internationally celebrated creative genius, Gordon Parks, who will be honored posthumously as an Arts Trailblazer, and the 2019 Education Trailblazer, Deltha Q. Colvin, who continues to blaze a path as the Special Programs Associate Vice President in Wichita State University’s Diversity and Community Engagement Division. Kevin Willmott, Academy Award-winning screenwriter, will serve as the event’s keynote speaker.
“We are thrilled to see Greg recognized for his significant contributions to radio and to the community,” said Jackie Wise, SVP/Market Manager, Entercom Wichita. “We’re very proud to have him as part of the Entercom Wichita team.”
Williams is a 40-year radio veteran who has spent the majority of his career in his hometown, with the exception of a brief stint at KCBQ/San Diego. He joined Power 93.5 as PD in 2000, preceded by stints at 103.7 KEYN, KKRD and KLEO-AM/Wichita. Commenting on his induction, Williams said, “I’d like to thank the Kansas African American Museum for this incredible and humbling honor. I’m fortunate to have a platform to reach our local community every day. I look forward to sharing this achievement along with my fellow inductees in October.”
The induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Hyatt Regency in Wichita. Tickets for the fundraising celebration can be purchased individually or by the table by contacting the Museum at TKAAMuseum.org.
