Happy Norfolk 30th, Tim Parker!
• Sending our best wishes to Tim Parker, APD/MD of Saga Active Rock WNOR (FM 99), and morning host on Classic Rock sibling WAFX (106.9 The Fox)/Norfolk, who on Wednesday celebrated 30 years on the air in the Norfolk-Virginia Beach market.
After earlier career stops in San Antonio and Corpus Christi, TX, Parker joined WNOR in October 1994 and anchored afternoon drive there until 2014, when he moved down the hall and up the dial to WAFX, while retaining his WNOR APD/MD stripes.
That’s Parker (right), clutching his commemorative 30-year plaque alongside Mike Beck, Operations Manager of WNOR & WAFX (left), who remarked, “Tim is one of the most influential music directors in Rock radio over the past 30+ years. He’s also been a drivetime fixture in Hampton Roads on WNOR and WAFX, a successful production talent, an important member of our programming team, and a damn good guitar player. He’s incredibly talented, committed, and fun to be around. Congratulations, and thanks, Tim!”
